El pie de foto reza: "La señorita Juan, que es una castiza madrileña -¡ha nacido en plena Guindalera!- es coronel de Aviación del Ejército nacional de China...Vean ustedes su extraordinaria historia en las páginas 3, 4 y 5." <br /><br />La historia la cuenta Vicente Sánchez Ocaña, que<a href="http://ace.uoc.edu/items/show/399"> ya había entrevistado </a> a la hermana de Nadine, Marcela de Juan. El artículo se recrea en el androginismo de Nadine y en cierto transformismo que la haría famosa en el París de los años 30.<br /><br />El reportaje <a href="http://hemerotecadigital.cm-lisboa.pt/Periodicos/ReporterX/N069/N069_master/ReporterX_Ano2_N069.pdf">apareció </a>también en una publicación portuguesa.

<a href="http://ace.uoc.edu/items/show/1073">Nadine Huang</a> (Huang Nading 黄娜汀), hermana de <a href="http://ace.uoc.edu/exhibits/show/galeria-de-personajes/marcela-de-juan">Marcela de Juan</a>, fue internada en el campo de concentración para mujeres de Ravensbrück en 1944. Tras ser liberada, y junto a otros 30.000 prisioneros, llegó al puerto finlandés de Malmö el 28 de abril de 1945. En julio se habría marchado hacia China, tras lo que se le pierde la pista. Pero en los años sesenta reaparece en Caracas.<br /><br />El caso ha salido a la luz gracias al trabajo documental de Magnus Gertten, realizador de los documentales <em>Harbour of Hope </em>(2011) y <em><a href="http://everyfacehasaname.com/nadine-hwang/">Every Face has a Name</a> </em>(2015), en la web del cual se explica con detenimiento su itinerario vital.

Aunque no fue el primer intento de crear una máquina de escribir capaz de usar caracteres chinos, la máquina diseñada por Shu Changyu 舒昌鈺 (conocido como Shu Zhendong 舒震東) y distribuida por la Commercial Press de Shanghai, consiguió cierta celebridad internacional. La noticia seguramente llegó a España por haber sido exhibida en la Exposición Internacional del Sesquicentenario de Philadelphia de 1926.

Las fotografías pertenecen a la colección del marino Diego Mateo, quien aparece en estas imágenes de la estancia del crucero <em>Blas de Lezo</em> en Shanghai en 1927.<br /><br /><span>El <em>Blas de Lezo</em> zarpó de Vigo el 24 de enero de 1927 y llegó a Shanghai el 26 de febrero. Tras fondear en el extremo de la fila de buques extranjeros amarrados en el Huangpu, desembarcó 50 hombres que patrullaron por el Bund. Permaneció en China hasta el 22 de agosto.</span>
