Tras haber comenzado notando que la primera película japonesa solo se vió en Barcelona en 1931 (aunque se exhibió con el título de <em>Yedo</em>, probablemente se trate de Encrucijada [<span>(</span><span title="Japanese-language text"><span lang="ja">十字路</span></span><span>, </span><span title="Hepburn transliteration"><i lang="ja-Latn">Jūjiro]</i></span>, dirigida por Teinosuke Kinugasa en 1928), Calvet acaba diciendo: "Qui serà l'home d'empenta i d'esperit artístic inquiet que ens presenti aviat més films de l'Exttem Orient, xinesos i nipons?"
