The villa was located in Ward Street (today Changyang Road), in an area distant from the city center, with views over the Huangpu. It was designed for a Mr. French.
The building includes a ground floor and first floor with an accessible terrace with an overlook. It was the first finished project by Lafuente in the neo-Arabic style he termed as “morisco” (Moorish), as evident in the the engrailed horseshoe arches and decorative friezes characteristic of Arabic architecture in Spain). This architectonic features became Lafuente's signature style in his works in Shanghai.
